 Instead of launching the fireworks over Navy Pier, they were launched from somewhere inland (Grant Park?), meaning that the thousands of people watching from the north were denied.

That's very cool. I suggest trying it cropped way in, so the fireworks almost touch the sides and top. I bet at the larger relative size, there are all kinds of nifty details in the explosion.

It'd also be fun to see it with the buildings darkened to the point that only the windows are visible, with the normally-exposed fireworks above.
