My lucky bamboo - or one piece of it anyway. My husband bought it for me last year for Mother's Day. At the time it was maybe about 3 feet high. It has since doubled it's height.

About a month ago I cut it in half, terrified that I was going to kill it (as I seem to do to all things green) but it survived. Which it's why it's called "lucky" bamboo - it has to be lucky to survive my black thumb!

It just caught my eye tonight, with the shadows it was casting on the wall behind it.

I like that it's in B&W. Puts more emphasis on the light and lines. Good thinking.

Love the shadows and grainy treatment! I also like how the leaf and shadow on the top right kind of caresses the light area of the background, very cool!

I like the minimalist feeling to this.

(I couldn't even make a piece of bamboo live. :( )

The grainy background works really nice for this! I like the sudelty(sp?) of the black & white, very nice.

This is just stunning with the very dark bamboo set against the grainy gray background. The bit of noise in the bamboo works perfect against the background.

love the off centre composition, and I'm a sucker for B&W as well :)

The b&w and grain work well here. Nice oriental feel to the shot.
