Challenge: Dichotomy (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC for Canon
Location: Dining Room ;-)
Date: Jul 8, 2007
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/8
Date Uploaded: Jul 8, 2007

Some dodging burning, bit of cloning, NI, selective Desat, some USM thrown in and a border, sfw.

I destroyed some shades and old glasses to do this. Dremel and solder later we have a very confusing pair of glasses to look through ;-)

This is one shot, taken in colour, converted on the left to B+W by the sound of the glasses thing. Is this you, or did you take this, or both? If it's one shot, an unusual shirt, or one over each shoulder

Quite inventive - you like a challenge, obviously.

I would maybe have done this in two shots, kept the shades and glasses whole, and just superimposed one over the other - but that may not be such a challenge

It has given me an idea though for a shot of me

Thanks

Looks like a lot of hard work went into this one. I like the idea of using monochrome vs. color to accetuate the conflict. I also like the use of symmetry (an object in each hand, glasses of different styles on each side). Very nice job - hope you do well! 9

Great stitching of the photos, however a few things bug me:

The sharpness could be better and the left face looks a little bland, maybe some selctive dodge/burn there?

Also, the halos around the edges get to me. This could have been shot with the kit lens, i'm not sure, but they're definately visible in the downsized version here and distract from an otherwise great picture.

very nice idea, setup and execution..expression and context (not to mention title) are not as compelling as they could be though...8

Nicely done. This must have taken some work for one shot, setting up the clothing and glasses, especially. Good job.

Nice PS. You could have taken it further I think. Baseball cap. Furrows on brow on the left. None at all on the right. etc. But still, nicely composed with clean editing of a simple image that suits the challenge. 7

Meets the challenge well with the two personas but also the color and b/w sides of it. There are a couple other shots like this one and they're all pretty cool.
