It's the top of an onion of some sort. This thing sits atop a 4ft long, very hefty stem and if you pull it out, there's some sort of strong smelling onionjust below the dirt. The dogs dig them up and stink for weeks.

beautiful! great composition, lovely DOF. the purple against the green is so satisfying! i love this image because it looks so effortless... the photographer became the bud just long enough to capture it.

Looks like they've mutated...must be our atmosphere. Now they have that lovely shade of purple to them instead of being little green aliens! :)

Ah! The saga continues! I'm really loving these subtle colors and the DOF and comp are also very pleasing to my eye.

oh my goodness! this is such a bizarre flower, it does look as though you found the invader's base! It's suchj a pretty color & pleasing to the eye...I hear that's how they lure us in...

Don't touch it! They'll turn you into someone who pines away the day wishing for MORE flowers to photograph!!

No, I think they are being scooped up by a giant alien from another race with a huge spoon and carried, slowly but inevitably, to their doom. Any minute now one of them will open its tiny mouth and scream.
