I'm starting to like the square crop idea here - it makes me compose differently and try new things.

I didn't have much time today after my run and knew this was my best opportunity to get something. The clouds looked interesting so I decided to take a wide shot. I originally went for the lighthouse but decided to not make it the main subject since I've done that for quite a few challenges. For some reason I immediately thought B&W and I like how it turned out, except for the banding in the sky.

Beautiful. B&W was a great choice!

Beautifully composed shot. If you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed the banding.

This is a fantastic composition, the b&w works well; I thought it was IR for a moment.

Wish I had a lovely beach to walk on... glad you changed your mind about the lighthouse, this gives such a great sense of place. I love the sky and wouldn't change a thing about it. Of course, even though you won me with the B&W right off, it still took my breath away :)

i really like the leading lines and patterns of the lightposts and concrete thingies. The intersection by the pier adds another dimension to it which is interesting. Great black and white conversion!

I really like this shot! B&W works perfectly, I actually said "wow" outloud when I opened it...it's beautiful!

I really like the b&w! I like the simplicity of the shot too.

I agree about the banding, but this is still a very serene image. Great b/w!

Ahh, the famous lighthouse :-) I really love this image, to echo others' comments the lines are fantastic (love the clouds lined up with the breakwater) and the b&w really works! Although you photograph this lighthouse often, all of the shots are unique and original -- what a great skill you have!
(And I agree about the square crop; I didn't like it at first but it is forcing me to do something different so I like it after all.)

What a bunch of leading lines. At first glance I didn't even notice that there was a lighthouse in the shot. Good job on the clouds, and the sky looks fine to me.

I don't see any banding. I can see all the squares on the little monitor-test strip thingie, but I think my monitor looks drastically different from most people's. But if it's any comfort to you -- I don't see the banding.

I love the perspective in this shot, and you're right, the clouds are gorgeous.

I thought this was snow at first, and just about didn't click on it. I like the strong diagonals in this.

Really nice shot. I think the B&W works well. Like the contrast between the sky and path as well as the use of vanishing point.
