So this is Skootles, a pretty boy from Mercy's second litter that adopted us. He is about nine months old and still very playful, as evidenced by this shot of him throwing around a toy feathered mouse.

I'd love to get opinions on perhaps a better crop for this image, the whole shot is below. All ideas welcome, and thanks in advance!

Nice capture. Maybe a little more off the right and more height too (if you had it (can't see the original anymore)). Love the dirt / dust with the light behind it. And that fully extended paw claw.

You might be able to crop a bit more off the right but the flying dirt is part of the story so you don't want to lose too much of it. Lighting and detail are nice ... really, this is a nice action shot.

Just fabulous! The paw action is amazing.

It's a tossup as far as the crop goes. You could do a portrait-type shot as routerguy down there suggested - I tried it and didn't like it too much. The whole cat is better in this case - especially the inclusion of the dust arc. I'd just chop some off the right - up to the dust - and see how you like that.

Great action shot!!! Look at that tail, it's like a ballast helping him keep his balance so he can deal to that mouse!

Difficult background to do much with. One of the greatest joys/frustrations with animal shots (especially cats) is where they choose to perform for us. I love the lighting on his face and paw.

You could crop it so just the face and the batting paws are in frame (edit: like right below the foreground elbow to just above the uppermost paw), that might focus the scene a bit more. Nice action shot!
