You say in your bio you have a thick skin and are looking to improve your photos.
I'll leave this comment here, but it is a general comment as I just looked through all your challenge entries.
Setting aside every single other aspect of photography, your photos would be immensely improved if you would educate yourself about and then force yourself to adhere to some of the fundamental rules of composition. Rule of thirds, leading lines, etc. Google or search the dpc forums and start reading.
Your scores are what they are because the shots appear to have little thought put into them, primarily due to their haphazard composition, and give off a sense of 'snapshot' - the kiss of death in challenges.
I'm pretty confident that if you do this, you will certainly leave the 4.x scores behind. Add decent focus and an interesting subject, and scoring upper 5's is not hard to do.
Good luck. |

I like the flow of the picture how it comes up from the left and circles around to the empty space. Good idea. Possible a little tighter crop.
"anyways ... this photo particularly doesn't convey nothing to me and in challenge i would score it 4 or maybe even 3 :-) "
how can you say this when there is no challebge subject to base your opinion on? |

okay, i usually like this kind of SF photos but with this one it's difficult to see that this is maybe a light bulb (i presume)
- what postprocessing did you do on this photo ?
- did you zoom in during exposure ?
- composition is weird, don't you think ?
anyways ... this photo particularly doesn't convey nothing to me and in challenge i would score it 4 or maybe even 3 :-)
NHF.

I like the photo. You have done a good job with dynamic range for a light bulb so to speak, i.e. there is detail in the key darker areas of the object. I also like that you have removed all other background components. The feature itself is detailed enough to hold your attention without having to seperate it from other components. The only thing I ask here is why am I looking at this? What is it you are wanting me to see? You did well with it, but I am not sure if in a collection of other photos that I would pick this out to view and come back to it. |
