I figured this challenge would be perfect for me because my favorite place to take pictures is the beach. I took this picture from a place called Heisler Park is Laguna Beach, California, which also happens to be my favorite place to take pictures. I had to climb a slight hill and through some shrubs to get the angle I wanted. As far as post processing is concerned, I did some minor hue/saturation and brightness/contrast corrections everything else is just as I saw it.

I don't like the centered composition here. Both in the tree being in the center and the horizon being centered. 5

Not sure that the palm tree adds to the photo here... Or perhaps have it more to the right as something to frame the shot.

I always hesitate making comments about framing because I don't know what was on either side of the subject but having the palm dead center in the shot is a killer to me. I'm a pretty avid believer in the rule of thirds. Also, if you had one handy, a polarizer (or good polarized sun glasses for a point and shoot) would have made the sky and sea much richer. Still, it's a nice shot.

Blown out.

The tree seems a little soft

The light is very nice, but the palm tree is dead center and really stops the eye dead in its tracks. Placing the tree towards the side would help make the photo more dynamic, and it would also give you more room for that great shoreline to the left.

Picture was a little hazy for my taste.

a bit over exposed or something. so hazy... bad composition.

another snap shot... next time try framing the tree to the side

Sorry, but the sea seems to be incidental to this shot. It forms a nice background for the palm tree.

Should the sea not be the main focus of this challenge?
