The pumps in the retention pond kicked on after the surface had frozen. I think the float might have stuck also, because I've never seen the pond that low. Anyway, I kicked a hole in the ice so I could climb down and take some pictures looking out. SHQ.

This is a really puzzling image. I don't really understand what I'm looking at, but it's cool. I wish the bottom of the image was either darker or had better detail, but I love how the ice splits the image from cheery blue to ominous black.

Very "cool" perspective. I liked almost everything about this shot. Maybe would have gone for slightly more depth of field. With that flat sky, you could have gotten away with a little more detail on the reeds above the ice line, but that is a very minor suggestion.
