Quote from Orwell's "1984" . . .

I didn't expect this to do well, and it was right about where I expected it to be. This is a CCTV camera from the UK, overlooking a parking lot at the university where I work. It probably would have scored higher if I hadn't forgotten that outside the UK these cameras aren't so recognizable. I had some closer takes, but I liked the height of this one, and overall I still like the shot :)

This didnt fare well in an expert editing challenge, but it's a very cool photo. It reminds me of Johnny 5 in the film Short Circuit. Or it can also be Spirit and Oppurtunity on Mars. Nice grain, a blue light or some help with lighting would add to this alot.

I didn't realize what the shot was till I read the camera part. I am one of those lazy voters, if I get the quote great, but I am too lazy to look it up. 1984 was a great book though. I like the post processing and the perspective is cool. I think I just didn't get the sci-fi connection when I voted (I do now). I gave you a 5 during the challenge. I like your thinking.

This shot seems to suggest that you don't approve of the cameras around the city. Many people don't. However, isn't it strange that these cameras helped round up the "brilliant doctors" that planted bombs in England and Scotland last weeek? !

excellent image, rob. i gave it an 8. it fitted the theme very well indeed - as thankfully orwell's dystopia is still (somewhat, although i've been hearing rather worrying things from the uk) sci-fi. i like the fact that you used the expert editing subtly, and made it wrk for you. great stuff!

I'm guessing it's a quote from "1984", but I'm probably wrong (it was 1984 when I read that book).

The effect you placed on this photo definitely fits. I like the negative space around the camera. Great Composition.

Interesting concept, 'Big Brother is Watching' has always been popular. However, for me, something just doesn't hold together, it took me a while to look at this image and not think 'satellite' but camera. Nice idea, just doesn't give me the sci-fi vibe.

not as interesting as the others. is this a telescope? might help if i knew what it was. if it is a telescope you shouldve put a person below it, "as if they were being spied on" or is it a surveillance camera?

I see this more as a political statement than a sci-fi image. I don't like the vast amounts of white space.
