This image was a fluke from the perspective that hummingbirds move so fast and you have no way to plan what the bird is going to do. I released the shutter just as the bird took flight, I never did see the bee until I was looking at the images, several hundred, and realized then why the bird had moved. I felt this was a pretty amazing photograph but I guess a lot of people didn't. Even though the entry did not score very well I appreciate all the wonderful comments.

it wasn't until recently that I noticed the battles that take place b/tw the stinging insects & others, like butterflies, and birds..@ flowers, watering spots, etc. I can't tell if the non stinging guys are ever stung... It is quite amazing to watch, even more amazing to catch it in a phtoograph!

Good for you for making the decision to enter the most interesting of your shots!

Keep on shooting!

nice catch, but the longer exposure threw your focus off (you knew that). just ends up being distracting.

I like how the bee and feeder are so sharp and the hummingbird is blurred by the movement.

Do you know how fast you have to set your shutter to capture the wings? I did it once at 1/4000th...

Kind of looks like they are battling for the food. Excellent capture.

Very interesting shot. The motion blur actually adds to it, I think, but the composition doesn't feel balanced.
