Composition/Content: I am quite fond of fruit macros for some reason! I rated it high during the challenge. I like the way the lines and curves work together, but the most striking thing about this photo is the contrast of colors. The colors work nicely together, but the main problem I have is the focus of the berry. To me, it is as much the subject of this photo as the kiwi, so should share the focus. Right now it seems to be less of a focal point and more of just a contrasting object in the frame.

Background/lighting:

The white background works well here, although the lighting seems off on the berry. My eyes are drawn to the right side of the kiwi where the light hits it, but then flow over to the berry, where it just sort of fades. Maybe a secondary light would have been nice here.

Overall, I like this. I know with my fruit macros, I have to take many pics with many different angles to get the right focus and composition. I think the most important thing with something like this is the focus--perhaps playing around with getting closer w/ less zoom and vice versa. Keep in mind that I am NOT saying that everything in the frame should be in focus--just the focal point! :) For example, given the way you cropped the shot, you might have started the focus in the front corner and let the DOF fade into the background. Or maybe just incorporated more than just the left edge of the berry---bringing more of the berry's texture into view. Just food for thought! ;)

Nice composition and use of colour. Not sure if the focus and weaker lighting on the strawberry was intentional?

I would have liked to see more detail in the berry

I like it. Only improvement I would make is to get the strawberry more in focus. There's a wealth of texture there that could be shown.

Composition - quite good
Technical Aspects - quite good
Meets Challenge - yes
Visual Impact / Originality – quite high
Other suggestions – I assume you looked at different versions with different DOF's

I'd like more detail in the strawb skin. Good composition and lighting.

Great colour. Could perhaps have used more light on the strawberry. Love the detail though. 8 - floyd

nice color combination. and two of my favorite fruits, yummy! :) the kiwi looks great, nice sharp focus, i really wish the strawberry was in focus, too. i'm assuming that's due to the limited DOF on macro shots? just another nitpicky thing, there's hairs from the kiwi in the lower left that are a little distracting. -- gr8photos.

Nice detail and use of dof. i like it that there is more kiwi than berry... that seems the less obvious choice. 6 sjgleah

Great composition and framing. I love the contrast between the two. If the strawberry had been sharper, this would have been a ten for me. good work. karmat

The berry needs to be a bigger part of the shot. Nice focus on the kiwi.
