Challenge: Action Shot (Advanced Editing I*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX Aspherical DF for Canon
Location: Adlington Equestrian Centre, Cheshire, England
Date: Jan 4, 2004
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/80
Date Uploaded: Jan 4, 2004

This is a somewhat new sport called horse driving, which involves driving around various obstacles with the groom hanging on for dear life.

The event was hell to shoot: very dark, and fast moving action. I relied heavily on my friend's Sigma 28-70/2.8 EX - Thanks Rainer. :-) I shot at +0 Ev to try and retain good colour balance/contrast, which I then improved with auto-levels, slight brightness increase and slight saturation increase.

Thats a very good action capture. Great sharpness, and clarity. The scenery isn't as good as it might have been outdoors, wow what a shot this would be with a nicer setting!

Maybe a little more crop on the top would make it more intimate. The horses going around the corner is what makes this a great action shot. Seem like the second rider is putting the weight on the inside to make the turn quicker. Would love to see the outakes on this one.

A great capture. I realize there is nothing you could do about it but the plywood and metal back ground are distracting to the neat action in the arena. BOL

Really nice action. I LOVE how the horses came out, but the slower shutter seems to have back-fired on the riders. Still, nice shot. Hate the background. 8.

nice indeed, but a bad backdrop, very unatural.

Nice catch. Getting them on the curve helps bring the horses into full-face while allowing a side view of the cart and riders. This looks like a racing event, but not one I'm familiar with.

I really like the action in this one, very well captured. Also that almost everything beside the feets of the horses is sharp is great. The background disturbs a little but that wasn't in your hands probably. Good luck

Beautiful shot of the horses. Too bad about the backround.

Lovely horses, good action. I might have tried to get a better angle or background, but then I wasn't there, was I? Nice shot.
