My daughter's tennis shoes. She's had these shreds for 3 long years. I finally stopped fussing over them...she LOVES them! Trust me she has better and newer shoes, but she wears these. Her friends colored them in class one day and I guess they have meaning to her. I gave up the fight and decided to pick better battles! I only worry they hurt her feet, but she's almost 18 yrs old. She'd tell me. Plus, she's a great kid so why worry over shoes!! This is my tribute to the well-worn and loved shoes. This image is colored, but it looks b/w with desat.

Well done -- interesting objects even without the backstory, and the negative space is cool, too.

The way the shoes have been decorated in different colours sure adds to the interest here.

I sometimes wish I had the courage to dress oddly like that. If only I was a teen again. It would never even have crossed my mind to do things like this when I was one.

That's smart of you to let her make her own decisions. Besides, she'll outgrow them soon and you'll be missing the days she wore them.

Very nice picture.. The desat is good in that some color remained and adds to the effect of the old pair of sneakers..

Oh oh oh. This is great. Be sure you save this (along with the story) and make her a scrapbook. This photo would be an awesome cover for a book. And she'd love it too.
When my son graduated from college I took a pic (on the sly) from every room in the house the boys rented. Then I took pics all over the little college town. He (yes even boys appreciate things like that) absolutely loved the scrapbook. With my oldest son ... the sarcastic one ... I saved all his IM messages and put them into a scrapbook. Its good to make memories for them of the good times.
I really really like this shot and I'm sure she will too.

Great tribute!! I love the composition of this shot. Can relate to the shoes .... one summer I lived in spray painted blue gumboots.

Nice photo and you're right, in the big picture, her shoes are the least of your worries, well done!
