I couldn't come up with many ideas for this challenge, but really wanted an excuse to go shoot something with my new Canon 10-22. :) I had the sun-shining-through-a-clear-bulb idea before, but didn't know how to make it stand out. I was actually thinking about my previous entries when the concept of my "Birth of Las Vegas" shot struck me. The concept is obviously somewhat similar... :)

The setting is one of my favorite places to shoot, Lucerne Valley Dry Lake Bed. In fact, it's the same place I shot "How is a rocket-powered trike a BAD idea?!". I super-glued a short nail to the bottom of the light bulb in order to get it to "stand up". The light switch assembly is duct-taped to a small screwdriver, which I pressed into the ground where I wanted it.

The foreground is lit by a flash behind and to the left of the camera. I used a diffuser to soften the light a little. Taken near sunset with the lens at about 13mm. I really wanted the sun to line up with the bulb filament, but just couldn't get the composition I wanted when I did. Oh well, at least it's centered. :)

First made RAW setting adjustments, then opened it up and cloned out sensor dust from hell. Noise Ninja, rotated, cropped. Adjustment layers for Levels, Hue/Saturation, and Selective Color. Resized, added border, Save for Web. Hopefully this will do OK. It's a little abstract though, so we'll see...

I was thinking this was yours when I saw it. Mainly because of the Neon Sign you did, which is bad ass. I gave this a 7. Would have liked to see the Light maybe more between the wires in the bulb. But it was a great idea and shot. It rocks that you got a shot in. Hope to see more work from you.

I'm only 1/3 through the challenge yet, but I'm pegging this one for the blue ribbon. Too cool. Excellent work!

Interesting idea with a lot of high impact potential, but composition lets it down. Also, sun effect is very weak so the bulb doesn't really look like it's on.
