a tender gentle image - one I haven't seen before - that's not my wife and it makes me love my wife more - there's just some "feeling" about the photo that makes me appreciate the gentleness of women - anyway, I'll bet you love it!

Great capture, what a fun experience getting so close to deer like that.

Nice work!

Hi Van. I think this is a fantastic photo! It definatly fits the challenge, and the idea is great. The somewhat muted colours work really well, with it mostly b&w with hits of orange in the carrot and hair. I'm not sure if that's the natural colours, or if you desaturated green from the background, but whatever it is works fantasticly in giving a wintery atmosphere.

The composition you chose works very well, using varying levels. I would be tempted to flip the image so that your wife is on the left, but that's a minor thing, and it can look rather odd when you know the person in the photo :) The exposure and contrast unfortunatly hide any detail that the coat may have had, making it solid black, and over exposed the button of the mule's chin, but I actually like that in this case. I think it may have effected your score though.

As one final note, I think another tiny thing that would improve the score is a light USM to make it really crisp and sharp. I actually really like it slightly soft though, it adds to the kind of magical atmosphere that this photo gives out. I just think DPC voters prefer things to be very sharp.

By the way, it was a carrot flavored hotdog.

Nice photo, but when I think of "feed the hungry" I envision helping people, so it kind of turned me off.

Wow- how'd you get that shot. The black coat is a great contrast against the snow.

This isn't exactly what I think of when I see "Feed the Hungry". But I think your model is really good looking and the photo is well done.

Lovely. Relevant. Sound exposure and use of colours.

Great shot! Nice focus on subject only. Too bad the animal was so short.

Great DOF and focus on your subjects. I really like the way most of the color in the shot resides with the woman. And most of all, I like your message! Well done.

Nice, more of the deer might be nice, but too much more of the deer would make it look snap-shot-ish.

very cute picture. I think that it's a croped a little to tight. It would probably help to show a little more on the bottom edge, bringing the deer's head more into the center.
