Challenge: December Free Study (Advanced Editing I*)
Collection: Family
Camera: Sony DSC-F707
Location: living room
Date: Dec 20, 2003
Aperture: 4.5
ISO: 7 sec
Shutter: 100
Galleries: Family, Emotive
Date Uploaded: Dec 31, 2003

This was not made to be an entry in this challenge, but it was the best picture I had this month.

I put my son to sleep, then put him under the Christmas tree. I used a flashlight to illuminate him so that I wouldn't overexpose the lights on the tree (still did some).

That is probably the most special Christmas card type photo I've ever seen. Nothing about it isn't perfect. The color, the composition, the light. I don't mind a little overexposure on this. Trust me, you don't even notice. Him wearing the red pj's is just the cherry on top!! This is artistry at its highest level.

This looks like a Christmas card! His rosy cheeks and feet are such a compliment to his bright red jammies and the tree and presents add a nice Victorian feel to the shot. You might not have a ribbon for this photograph, but you have here something far more valuable. This is a priceless memory to be framed and cherished for years to come. I wish I had such a portrait of my own children.

A beautiful shot overall! Although I really like the angle of the child, it might be nice to tilt it a little left to make the tree appear more vertical here. Or maybe a perspective adjustment. Anyway, it's a wonderful shot as is! One of my ribbon picks.

This would make an excellent Christmas card! Well done. Good use of light.

This is a beautiful soft looking photo. Did you use a star filter? Nice job on the lighting, very calm. Did he actually sleep there waiting for santa, is this conducive to keeping children in bed during the time he comes ;-). Nice composition, good job getting close. A nice photo... maybe a little busy, but I think it's very well done.

Would make for a great Christmas themed greeting or postcard. Colors are vibrant. The lighting on the tree was captured briliantly. Priceless captured of the child.

So very sweet, and a perfect shot. I love that the shot seems well thought out, using the color red throughout; that really pulls it together.

Boy, this is a moment to look back at! I just love this. The color is perfect. The tree and your little cherub here are grabbing my eye with little distraction from the surrounding features. There is just enough in the shot to tell the entire story without all the clutter that is typical in this type of shot. Great shot. you should be proud of this. 10
