 I've seen millions of these shots on DPC, but I didn't have anything else from this month that was better, that I haven't already used in other challenges.

I think if more of the rose was showing and softer lighting, this would do well

the beads at the bottom of the image are really well shot -but the ones at the top seem a little fuzzy - a closer crop might do the trick

Giving you a cliche score. If you're going to shoot cliche (not that there's anything wrong with that), you'll need to be better than the rest of the genre to score well, especially in a free study.

Looks like it could use a USM applied to it. But I don't know, I like the color of it.

the large shadow area in the LR is distracting and could have been cropped out effectively, or a vignetting mask perhaps too

I actually liked your image until I read your title...sorry :-( I just think that titles really can add or subtract from an image. In this case you have drawn our attention to the fact that your image might be cliche...perhaps 'Ruby Red Pearls' or 'Scarlet Drops' might have lifted this...just a thought. Never downgrade your image in the title and expect it to do well. Voters are not that kind...6
