Challenge: Motivational Poster (Advanced Editing I*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Styal football ground, Styal, Cheshire, England
Date: Dec 27, 2003
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/250
Galleries: Sports, Advertisement
Date Uploaded: Dec 27, 2003

Shot on the second day of owning my 300D.

Lens: 75-300mm USM
Shot at: 300mm * 1.6, hand held

Fairly pleased with the result considering I've not done much sports shooting before (and never with a DSLR). Focus could be a little better, and I wish I hadn't cut the blue guy's arm off. (Expecting to get comments about that!)

Graphics added in PS7. Text, font Impact 125% horz scale, yellow fill, 2px blue stroke, light yellow outer glow 10x size 5px spread.

Greetings from the CC and happy new year. Well, you are aware already about leaving in the arm on the guy on the left, you did a very good job to get a stop action shot, and there is still motion blur nicely on the ball. You captured the 'action' of these men very well, it is an emotive shot esp thx to the man on the left. I think your compostion, lighting and sharpness are great. I think if this was an action shot vs. motivational you would of done much better, I think your text is overbearing and perhaps some folks did not get your joke, you may have done better with just the 'chase your dreams' segment. I do think this is a very decent shot for an action/sports shot. Would like to see it without the text.
Very nice job other than text IMO.
Keep shooting.

Very professional looking shot, love the expression captured in this and the stopped motion. I wouldn't have made the text glow. IMO the blue outline by itself would have put strength on the text, and I like that it has some humor in it. 8

A little too opaque to be motivational. The choice of font and style is interesting, but not 'serious' enough for a motivational poster. As far as the image is concerned, it's well compsosed, but it would be great if one of the figures was closer than the other to allow you to use DOF to your advantage and focus on one of the two players.

This would certainly be great for a sports motivational poster. Great action shot. Love how messy they are. I am not too too keen on the yeallow text with blue border. It loooks like a poster that a college student would hang in their dorm :-))
