I'm kinda of.....um

Not sure how I feel about the fence going straight through the center of the image. I'm not usually a stickler for the "photography rules" but I think this is one image that would benefit from some dramatic angle or something. I'm guessing that it's the snow that's "on the edge" which definately works. The focus seems a little soft to me though. I'm wondering if that is because the large post in the bottom left is obviously out of focus, and my eyes really aren't following that to a place that IS in focus. The snow looks good in the bottom right, but near the upper part of snow, it seems to be a bit bright and washed out.

snow is really hard to expose...it confuses the cams for the most part - overexposes snow, and underexposes everything else. Fill flash is a great way to avoid it, but certainly not fool proof. best bet is to expose the snow, and adjust the rest later in PS or something. if it were a MEMBER'S challenge you could do it ;)

good luck,

Pedro

A nice composition, but I'd like to see more detail in the metal and wood textures. Perhaps somewhat less contrast might improve it, or shooting at a time when the light is stronger and from the right-hand side.

You are not letting us see the beauty of these surroundings by blocking a good part of the image with the dark post on the left or the out of focus ice on top of it. The post does not show any interesting detail or color and so to my eye, does not add any value to the picture. In addition, you've lost detail in the snow and in parts of the background trees. I think the contrast is way too high here. Also, the line you've created with the edge of the fense leads to a puny, and insignificant tree.

I hope you didn't find my critique too harsh, but rather, constructive.

I would have taken it from a different angle, so that the fence could have got mor echaracter. Indeed beautiful, I love the colours. :-)

Nice composition, but a bit flat. Snow is a bugger to shoot, especially on a cloudy, grey day. Fits the challenge!
