Pyongtaek is a combination of urban life and city sprawl. As the city has grown many of the farms and rice paddies have dissapeared. The area right outside of Osan Air base is called Songtan. Until about 6 years ago it was its own city but was then annexed by Pyongtaek.

The city is broken down into towns, such as Anjun-ri, and Seojong-ri, and neighborhoods such as Sinjang-dong, and Seojong-dong.

This photo was taken in a rice paddy in Seojong-dong, about a one minute drive from the house I live in. We had a lot of rain come through on Thursday and the paddies have began to fill up. Here an old Korean farmer who would guess is in his 60's tends to the land to prepare it for his crop. As you can see he is standing in water and mud deeper than his ankles. The wrinkled lines on his hands tell the story of his age while he still does this back breaking work. The traditional hat worn by many asian farmers covers his head to keep the mid-morning sun off of his head.

Nice idea, but without seeing anything of his face it lacks interest. Even a profile in shadow would have helped. My original reaction was a 4, but bumping to a 5.

first impression, this is too tightly cropped at the top and I would like to see more of the hat as i think this could add a lot to the scene.
It's very sharp and the colours are great. Personally i do not like the background and feel it would be better with a shallow depth of field or taken from a different perspective, as it currently stands there is almos too much detail in the background. It has a lot of potential and changing a few minor things could transform it into something great. 6

While I like the hat hiding his face, I wish I could see more of his hat. It feels like he's been beheaded.
