One more thing, please note the example I found while doing research for this challenge. Someone else did a better job than me.

Thanks for the comments all. Some of the best I've had so far. This picture I took as a last minute picture. The background was mixed coloring, so I made it B&W.

It is dark because of the highlights from the flame. Next time I'll balence the lighting a bit more.

Also, glass is annoying in that you need to have everything cleaned. I don't like the spots on the glass around the flame.

Thanks again except to David Lopez. Sorry Dave, but I need more than a 2 word comment to be helpful.

Good idea -- I wonder, if this were under different rules, this wouldn't look even stronger divided into separate frames (quadtych)?

GREAT idea! Actually, I shot this same thing (4 elements in 4 glasses) but didn't enter it because I wasn't happy with the result, so I know how difficult this shot was to set up. The glasses in this composition are just ordinary wine glasses, and I think that brings the image down and prevents it from popping. The flame and the earth are both kind of blurred by the glass as well. The water is my favorite ... nicely lit and well exposed. All in all I ended up giving you a 5 -- some good things, some could be improved, and an average result.

Good idea that meets all of them! Myself...I think this might have been a bit more impressive in color. This is nice in B&W which is my favorite medium, but with color the earth would have stood out, the candle's flame would have made it's presence felt...and the water (maybe with a little light blue food coloring) would have jumped out at us. Sorry...

Great idea and layout. It seems a little dark to me, and I only say that because I think it might be hard to know what is in all the glasses without the title (and outside of the challenge, of course). Also, it would be really cool if the flame of the candle was sharp.

Pity that there is not more light on the bottom of the earth glass. Nice concept, well executed.

Very nice...

Interesting concept. Needs to be executing differently. Black and white doesn't work with it. not enough contrast or detail as shown.

The reflection of the flame is a bit distraction. Not sure if you would have been able to edit that out though.

You could've shown air with a little dry ice and water or with the air cup turned upside down to "trap" the air. Still its a good shot no points deducted for what I said just giving you some ideas if you try it again.8

Good idea, coming across a bit too dark though.

cool idea but it does seem that it is a little dark.

You copied another photographer almost the whole way. Where are the shot glasses. Not sure if this is as good as the last one I have seen.
