I think that it looks like a UV or Polarizer might have helped cut some of the general haze.

I am probably a small minority, but I have difficulty rating any B&W photos higher than a 5, when todays photographic technology makes vivid and vibrant color so easy. This would have been beautiful in color.

Not sure whether it's an optical illusion but it doesn't seem level? Other than that a very nice b&w.
