Challenge: Shapes III (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D40
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6G ED
Location: My house in Cerritos, CA
Date: May 21, 2007
Aperture: 16
ISO: 250
Shutter: 6
Date Uploaded: May 21, 2007

Had my tripod set up so I can look straight down at this stuff. Got my alarm clock and some stuff with more distinct shapes, tried to balance them within the shot on a wooden surface, and boom. Lighting was done just by a regular room lamp.

Not very interesting as a grouping, although the reflections in the lower bell on the clock are quite nice. Pick one shape and work with it. Also work on lighting and focus, and try to pick less distracting backgrounds. The vertical seam at the right edge and the plug in the edge of the cabinet distract from your composition.

This would be a better photograph if everything were lined up better. The clock's and the battery's edges are not parallel to the table's edge, and the sinkers are not spaced evenly.

I like the image but I would like to see the whole thing in focus. 6

definitely random shapes and objects reletivity. Should've separated the clock and the sinkers a little; or moved the shot angle. Maybe even to the point where one could read the clock time? Still very good

the sinkers and battery aren't very sharp ... increasing the DOF would help
