Challenge: Selective Desaturation II (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED
Location: Washington DC Art museum
Date: May 16, 2007
Aperture: f/3.2
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Emotive, Traditional Art
Date Uploaded: May 20, 2007

I took this picture as a guide was explaining the one painting to a group. It wasn't until I got back did I notice the painting on the right really made it interesting. I was holding the camera above my head to get the perspective I wanted, so the framing was accidental.

Excellent eye! Just curious, did you "see" this when taking the picture, or did you notice it later when looking at it for post-processing :) ? Anyways, excellent use of desat, to bring attention to what otherwise would never make a focus of the picture. Good job.

It perplexes me why you chose to have your subject be the figure no one is looking at. It's not even completely in the frame. The subject should be the paining being discussed.

I think that the idea is good but when you have captured the image there was another idea in your mind. in fact , the painting in cropped. good the B/W but the crop on the main subject is too important. at this time, with the crop, should be better capture our attention on the natural subject, i.e. the other painting.

Excellent title, even the painting's subject looks a bit neglected, especially with your use of selective color. 9
