 My lovely wife pretending to eat sushi. She HATES this stuff, but I wanted her pretty smile and she agreed to do it. Lit with a 580Ex in an umbrella and a reflector. I choose this roll for it's simplicity. There were many fancier sushi rolls to choose from, but had too much going on in there to where it would be too busy for the desat.

PP:
Selected the sushi and made a new layer with it. Desaturated background. Used the sponge tool to desaturate the "white" rice and seaweed. Cloned a couple small areas on rice where it was separating. Some minor dodging/burning. Crop, resize, usm, added border, save for web.

While it's beyond me how people can eat these things I do enjoy this photo. I would like it more with the entirety of the roll being in focus and without the large gap between ingredients. The gap has become the only thing I can focus on.

Good stock photography that works well with the desat but let down a bit by the focus. It's a shame it's not sharp through the whole plane of the food. Good luck
