about the crop... there is no room at the top. I took this photo from the hip with my powershot... I like it in a quirky way but my team talked me into the Gracie picture, which I also really liked but was less flawed.

btw, she's holding onto a desaturated bag of Skittles. I like how it looks like money.

Funny it does look like money and nothing like a bag of skittles. I like your composition. In fact I don't think anything else would work better, IMO. For me it makes her look more like she is up against that wall leaning on it. Despite her flashy outfit she looks shy and the composition enhances that.

Those keyholes are not as large as they used to make'em. No joy to be had in peeping through a yale lock. It's more horizontal than most of your shots (and you said it was from the hip) ;-)

I'm reminded of the scene in West Side Story where Anita(?) sings "America". Big leap I think, but something about her costume reminds me of the dancers. Lovely.

Don, I like the shot and think it was worth capturing this girls magnificent outfit whatever the crop is like.

That said, the crop doesn't really work for me, bizarrely it very nearly works because it is so odd . . she's too high in the picture, too central, the central vertical is off center, etc etc, and it does lead to a quirky charm, but i think in the end I find there to be just too much road in front of her and it almost gives the effect of the whole frame slipping down. You want to grab the edges and lift it up again : )

I wonder whether more of a letter box type crop would work ?

I have too agree with Melethia though - she does look grumpy. Did she get the skittles of the last photographer she beat up ?

The Merengue is the most fun, I think. But sometimes you get tired and
need take a little rest. I wish boys were not so clumsy. Where is my mother?

I wish the color was smoother on her face, i would go in with a brush and lightly go over it to smooth it out, then it will pull the attention to the emotion and less so on the stuff on her face. i like the crop

Ah, but it's still endearing. She looks positively grumpy. Like someone desaturated her Skittles or something.

In color, its flaws are even more obvious. :)
