Love it, love the grain, love the crop, love the B&W. Why isn't it 1st!

Extremely expressive. I think the tight crop has help much in giving the image a sense of restrain, confinement and frastration. A bit too grainy. It would be great if you are able to make it seem more intentional rather than allowing people to think that it is a weakness.

Greetings from the Critique Club:
My first impression is that it certainly fits the challenge and that it is a powerful image. Technically it is very grainy (as I am sure you know) and that adds a dimension to the image that is quite interesting, one that intensifies the emotional slide and the roughness where the fingers are clutching the wood. It is tricky to try and "stage" an emotional breakdown and you have succeeded here. The image would be very fine larger - it is a bit cramped in this size, especially in view of the tight crop. The harsh lighting is interesting as well, and I find myself wishing that there were a bit more contrast around the upper lip. You have done well with this and there are some very nice touches (black inside mouth, teeth that almost clutch as well as the hands) and a good choice of angle for the shot. Thanks for the image.

Nice shot Jeremiah. Do get the desperation and insanity one feels when the mind goes over that edge in your photo. Powerfully emotional picture.

I like it just as it is!

I think the fingers help to show desperation of hanging on.
This guy is on the edge. He's about to lose it.
I struggle with the grain a little. It might be just a bit too far for me.

I knew this was your shot - you already have a recognisable style.

I like it, although I actually think the table and hand are unnecessary and introduces a literal angle that's not needed. My perception of this is more psychological than physically 'hanging off the side of a ledge'.

Great composition! The grain in the photo really adds to the "darkness" of the image.

Scary but different, intuitive perspective of "On the Edge"

One of my favorites in this challenge. A bit noisy, but that only adds to the emotion. Very nice job.

I appreciate the interpretation, being the psychological edge, the way you framed and DOF ( not to forget what your model went trough ;)) Altough I personally like grain, YOU probably will suffer scorewise

good depiction of teh border of sanity.
A bit too much noise - or was it intentional ?- actually teh noise does add an edge tothe picture .Sort of derealisation and disorientation.

The mood of this image is great. Also the wide open mouth. I would have preferred if you have used a stone rather then wood (probably a table!?) as edge too hang on: the texture of the wood does not make it look realy. Also the graininess is a little overdone IMO.
What I like is that you used B&W, it works well on this image. Good luck.

I love the apparent distortion of the face. The grain also gives it a nice feel

I like the contrast and grain here. Would be nice if the picture was just a little bigger.

one of the best shots this week. if it were bigger i think you would do very well. its still a great shot despite its size, however, full sized pictures always score better here.

Very imaginative. Interesting angle. I would have liked it better if the fingers were in focus as well but overall a very good picture.

excellent in both concept and execution. I love the tight framing. the diagonal viewpoint and the heavy grain in the image adds to the feeling of stress and madness. one of my 3 favorites in this challenge.
