The curve of the sand, traced by the path of the footsteps, enhances the depth captured in this shot. My eyes are led from the forground to the distant beach, guided slightly by the mountains in the background. There's an overall darkness though, maybe alluding to the loss of someone leaving?
The horizon splitting the image in half doesn't detract from the composition here; it wouldn't have the same effect if the horizon was on one of the rule-of-third lines. |
