I had been thinking about entering this for the vanishing point challenge, but given that the sides of the main leaf vein are not actually parallel but actually do move closer together I thought it would get DNMC'd to hell and back. I liked the shot though so I thought I would give it an airing here

One of the great things about black and white is it distills things down to the basics - in this case, a wonderful study of texture and lines. Nicely done. Next try doing something like this only at more of an angle, catching just a bit in sharp focus and blurring by DOF on the rest.

I really like the main vein that runs thru the leaf. I also really like the texture that you've capture really well. And lastly, I like that you haven't removed the imperfections in the leaf. Nature at its finest with the beauty and the scars.

I'm glad you did. And I'm glad you didn't waste such a cool photo on the DNMC Police because I think you're right: not seeing a literal vanishing point, they probably would have killed it -- but it is too cool of a photo to get dismissed to the mediocre heap :)

When I saw the thumbnail I thought it looked like a topigraphical map of a river valley. I love seeing big things appear in small places

Agree about vanishing point challenge, probably wouldn’t work; other than that excellent shot; I like texture and contrast here.
