Went very high contrast this time - for this subject, at least, I rather like the effect.

I did a number of things with this, and unfortunately I can't recall the steps and seem to have misplaced my notes - I'll add them if I find them. Sorry!

--------------

figured out a bit of it - I had opened the color original (this was a tree with deep red leaves) in Alien Skin's Exposure and set it to the Daguerreotype mode, and then fiddled slightly with those settings for RGB, sharpness, blur and grain until I had pretty much what you're looking at now. A little extra USM in Photoshop and that was it.

Nice shot. The post work is wonderful. I like the sense of scale and the mix of light and dark is near perfect.

hi, and thanks for the comments! i think this is great that you managed to maintain the forms of the tree and this graphical form. i always get bad picturs when trying something like this in sunlight.

Wow that is high contrast!!!

Not normally an effect that I like but this kinda reminds me of a late 60's album cover from a psychedelic group

I like the high contrast and almost no mid tones.

Oh cool!! I did a close up shot of a grave marker like this once, very neat effect!! I think the end result here is striking! Sort of abstract and very different!! Way to go!!
