Indeed this was taken in Como, Italy. It was taken at the top of the hill where the cable car drops you off. I'm impressed you recognized it!

The RR picture is a classic, and needs to be done really well... this doesn't quite make it. I think it'd be improved if the angle were lower (camera closer to the tracks) and the the colors brought out more.
