See the face seemed to be prevailing theme in the comments and I totally agree. Unfortunately in almost all of the good shots the kayakers eyes would be closed and they would be making those funny hold your breath fish faces.

You could see the kayakers face well in my outtake, but their phone number was clearly visible on the paddle. I didn't think it would be appropriate to post that on the internet and I couldn't clone it out in basic.

Wow!!! Congratulations for an almost PB too! :) I caught this while browsing thru and thought it was one of the best action shots taken. The hidden face doesn't bother me at all and I love how the water sprays turned out - so much drama capture. My only tiny nitpick is the very high contrast that makes the whites look over-exposed. But, it's a minor detail seeing how this is basic editing and I understand how tough it can get for such a shot - Kudos Mark!

Loved this during the challenge (9) & still do! Great capture of the thrill of the sport! I think it should have scored higher!

I didn't mind not seeing the face - I liked the frozen water drops and the light - really a good depiction of the action and energy of the sport. I gave you an 8 by the way - one of my top tier shots in this challenge.

Great kayak rapids stop-motion. The face is dark. I would like to see his expression.

nice shot. It's a shame his face wasn't more visible to capture the expression. Kind of lose the subject in the background. framed well

fine freeze frame, though light on the face would give this photo greater human appeal

Perfect use of hight speed to freeze the movement. In cases like this one editors love to see athlete's expression in the photo.
