"Was I Just Being A Dummy When They Said I Was Part Of Your Culture And Put Me On Parade?"

This dummy was on display with similarly-dressed live gentleman who are part of a D-Day reinactors club. I'll get a lot of DNMC, but I found this to be an interesting example of how events shape the formation of culture. In fact, I expect to get well and truly slaughtered with this, but I was still inspired in both the execution and processing.

Editing: Shot in both JPEG and RAW. Overexposed purposefully by 3 stops to totally blow background, as it was quite busy. Used adjustment layers to enhance color, curves, levels. USM. Saved for web. Could have been a lot more interesting in advanced editing, I suspect. Did what I could with available light, though I'm sure there are those who could have done far better!

I'm predicting a 4.5 with this beauty :-)

I didn't vote in this challenge, and in fact never even got a chance to look at it. His face is kinda green, but it matches the rest of his outfit nicely. :-) I like that you thought this out, overexposed to get your intended result, and went with it despite expecting a low score. The colors, washed out to some, suit the subject very well, in my opinion. The whole thing has a nostalgic, washed-out camo kinda thing going. (My favorite part is the Airborne patch.)

Can't believe the score on this Catherine. I thought this was pretty cool. I gave this a 6 because the background is a little washed out otherwise it would have been a 7.

I love the soft touches to this image combined with the roughness to the bag and guns.

just a preference but I find people to be infinitely more interesting that inanimate objects...actually I'm more interested in the person in the background than the mannequin in the costume.

I like the candid-ness of the shot, but it's overexposed and the skin tones are a bit orange. On the other hand, the area below the gun is quite dark, so maybe adjusting the contrast/brightness would have produced a more evenly exposed shot.

I know it's supposed to be camo, but the color on the guy looks really yellow.

Nice image, with just a tad of overexposure.
