 I didn't have the luxury of renting out at 70-200 2.8 VR this time, so I used mystandby sports lens, my old manual focus 105 AIS.

While the shot isn't much as far as WOW factor, I like it considering:
1) It was my first time shooting any kind of horse jumping
2) I was using a manual focus lens.

PP - Left the image a little warm intentionally. A little over sharpened for this resolution.

Doubt this photo will do that well, it doesn't have the zap of most sports entries. I know I could do a bit of spot work, but that would be against Basic Editing. Guess 5.3

This is me being more on the techincal side. I actually didn't go out to shoot a "sports" photo. My wife wanted me to go to the barn and get some shots of the eventers there for a practice show.

You've really got to work a bit on guessing your scores. I think what this has going for it (other than just a very good picture) is how well it captures the elegance and grace of both the horse and its rider. Both athletes are very focused, very lovely, and the colors are rich and warm. Congrats on an excellent score!

This is still my favorite image in this challenge. I expected this to place much higher! Just know that this is really good photography. I like it very much!

Lovely stop-action. The horse is gorgeous; the rider looks like she's concentrating pretty seriously. The crop leaves room for the horse to land ;-)

gorgeous shot - I almost think a more dramatic photo would be with a closeup much tighter on the horse and rider - the background really doesn't seem to add much to this photo

I'd like to have seen this from head on rather then from the side. I like the focus and the timing of the shot, just wish the angle had been different.

This is a very nice shot with all of the right elements. The sports side of it is great, and the technicals of photography also are here. The centered composition I think works well for this shot.

Wonderful frozen moment! I'm not sure if I would have preferred a tighter crop on the left, but I can see that you've kept the pole center.
