The Thompson River Valley, as seen from Petersen Creek Park in Kamloops, B.C., Canada, on a fine spring afternoon.

I set out today specifically to get a wide-angle landscape, as they are not my typical muse or style (as, some would say, is apparent), and to take advantage of *having* 18mm on my 18-55mm. If I have the lens, I may as well take advantage of it.

Conversion was two seperate exposures from RAW, combined using Photomatix Basic. The B&W was done mostly in the RAW converter (I'm beginning to actually like this method lately), and then Curves and Levels applied in PS CS2.

I didn't do any dodge and burning, as I'm quite frankly *not* that good at it, and don't really think this needs any more dramatic moodiness added.

Nice dramatic vista - bumped up contrast does very well here, makes everything stand out from every point in the frame.

This is a great landscape, I sure like the two pines standing guard!

Seems a bit flat in the post processing.

Even in black and white, the photomatrix effect is obvious on a photo. Nice details in the sky, gets a little muddled on the bottom half in such a sea of flora. Splitting shots in half with the horizon line is generally something to avoid, and I don't know that it is doing you any favors here. Perhaps 1/3rd land 2/3rds sky would let even more of that great sky detail shine through.

So much depth in this one, and this could easily be a calendah shot IMO.....
A wonderful landscape in every sense.....

Awesome depth arty. Of course the sky is nice but the view is better. Good job.

Same sky we have in the Kootenays today. The weather looks good for the next 2 weeks or so. Our hills are bigger :)
