First one for the Black and white challenge.

This was a crop from a much larger group shot at an art show and festival.

I am very new and very uncomfortable taking candids, but am trying.

Lots of contrast adjustments, dodge and burn, etc...

ha yeah - the antithesis of spring break. A great candid and the B/W really helps bring out the character in his face. The adjustments and dodge and burn turned out great!

I think it's a great candid shot (I'm uncomfortable taking them as well...you'll seen none in my portfolio). Nice processing.

can anything be better for portraits than black and white?! My only question is how did you get Willie Nelson to pose for you? :)

Love his craggy face. Excellent in duotone. Shows the cracks and crevices. I bet that guy can tell some stories.

Beautiful Robin! I love character photos like this. I could look at them every day! I never tire of them. This just oozes stories, doesn't it?

I like that you've got the logo on the tee into the shot - it's very humourous - we don't have 'spring break' down here in Australia, but I 'get' that he's not nearly likely young enough to participate right?

This is the perfect subject for B/W. You did great cropping. I like how the gentleman is leaning to the right away for the dark side into the light side then looking back. The wrinkles and obviously gray hair shows this guy has been around away. Still pretty crisp even after you cropped in close. Great job.

This is a strong portrait in black and white and really stands out so well.....
I love his half hidden smile, as it make the photo come alive.....
