Oh! I love low-key as well... such a shame the voters here seem to hate it. :( This is fabulous. Powerful, enchanting. I love all the darkness and the subtle highlights. Excellent shot!

Great low key shot. Can't decide if I like the bottom cropped off (turning into landscape more) or the way you envisioned. Nonetheless a great idea, well executed, and terrific lighting.

Just crazy good Judy. It almost looks like they're glowing. Good work!

I like this idea, but for me, the base/vase/jar looks out of focus and is really distracting for me. I think if a bit of the stem coming out the top would really set it off great. Very nice job overall.

I saw this and figured it was you without looking at who posted it. You are the Queen of Low Key. Love it!

Very nice - I like how the flowers emerge from the darkness and how well they are composed to fan out across the top of the image. I'm not sure how well the bottom part of the image works though - I think it's because that part of the image might be "too" low key - I presume it's a vase of some sort, but I can't really see enough of it to get the gist, as I can with the flowers. But you know what, it's really not that big of an issue - it makes the viewer really stop and stay with your image, trying to figure out what they're seeing.

Great job. :)

the lighting is awesome. what is holding all the stems? is it a jar? perfect title for this.

Nice use of strong shadows. I have not tried much low key, but will be as the month progresses.

I usually can't stand tulips, but this is so simple and beautiful! Very nice composition and lighting. Direct, but welcoming.

And what a great example it is! The highlights on the stems really lead the eye.

Why am I not surprised that you would be one of the first to go with a really classic super-high contrast B&W :)

My only suggestion here would be to "shift" the frame over to the right by about 50 pixels. There's just a little too much negative space on the left hand side, throwing the balance off for me.

This is really well done low-key. The way the middle disappears is marvelous. Great job.

WOW! Great shot! when it first came up on my monitor it was only showing the top about 2/3 of the shot i could not see the vase at the bottom, I actually liked it that way even better! just a thought, very cool, low key can be so dramatic and you bhave captured it wonderfully!!!

Now that's neat! I like how the flowers are fanned out around the top.

What I love about this is -- well -- first I love tulip photos, but second and most important -- I've seen so many variations of the SAME tulip photo -- all beautiful -- BUT -- THIS is unique in its lighting. In its composition -- and in the expert way you've processed it!

I'm just sayin' Judy. . . .Gallery space might be in order for your flower photos! :)
