Strange. I like it and I don't at the same time. Maybe to close on the right side, but then again it works. The armband makes me think. This is strange to me.

I am looking at this and there are three elements that totally distract me, one the wrist band, it cuts off the hand and drawls the eye to something uninteresting, two, the off centered object in the hands, makes me wonder why cup it in two hands if its only in one? Last the cropping of the hand on my right (hand left)just cut a bit off and it really makes me wonder if this was taken on the fly, or set up?

lol the armband is strange, I like the noise because it balances with the varied pattern of the shell? ball? thing in your hands? Not sure if I like the hand cropped - would not know till I saw a different pic. I think it is an interesting composition.

I like the lighting. The composition is nice. I find the arm band distracting. I think the noise makes the photo appear old.

i like the composition - very simple image. I am not sure about the armband - but it actually might work - adds to the story. Is it from a hospital room? or from a bar? or?

I like this. It makes me think of a simple gift. I don't mind the noise because it goes along with the timeless sea urchin. I find it quite well done.

Love the textures of the shell, and the Black and White added a strong appeal to this image.....

Arm band adds interest, like many have said already. It carries my imagination - make me wonder what the story is.

I don't like the armband, I like the grain and I really like the presentation. I am going to look for some sea urchins the next time I am at a beach, I've come to the conclusion that they make great props!!

I think the grain works great with this. There's something about hands looking all textured and rough that give them such character and beauty. Yes. I think this photo works very well.

Shell is from a sea urchin; the spines would have attached where the little bumps are.

I think the noise works.

i like the presence of the arm band too. and i like the fact that the hands are not centered and the hand on the right side is cropped. gives a more spontaneous, unstaged shot feeling which i like.

I'm all about armbands! I'm not a huge fan of the noise, but its not bad. Whatever he's holding (shell of some sort?) would make an excellent macro study!

I agree with Genie that the armbad adds interest. I really like the grain a lot - I think it works. Evocative and well done.

Actually I think the armband adds some interest to the shot ... why is it there, what was so important about it, and not to mention the beat up quality it holds.
