I had no luck getting anything new today, so here's a different shot from a few days ago with Daniel and his buddy Jack. Jack was such an enthusiastic and spirited subject that he deserves at least one more day, I think.

I actually came this(=)close to pulling my car over as I was on my way to pick up Daniel at school today when I saw what I thought would make a potentially great portrait. The trash collector was making his rounds in the drizzling rain, wearing a bright green hooded sweatshirt and a neon orange waterproof vest. The colors looks so vivid against his warm brown skin tones and the grayness of the day, and I thought about turning around to ask to take a picture, but I was already running late and I pictured Daniel dripping wet, waiting for me outside his school.

And I was a little chicken. :<

We did go looking for the truck again after I had collected Daniel, and we thought we saw it, but lost it to a traffic light. I was so bothered that I missed that shot that I'm vowing to be brave, and to just go with my first instinct next time.

Oh, and Daniel told me that I should have just let him wait in the rain. :P

Just because this isn't "new" doesn't mean it isn't a great shot, which it is. It's very emotive with the different personalities exposed, and beautifully toned, composed and a great moment in the lives of these two guys.

It's good to see both the boys together in the same photo Erin. What a fun shot. What a ball of energy that Jack portrays. I love the darker complexion and features that Daniel has in all his photos. Again you have captured an image with beautiful light and another excellent conversion to B&W. Erin, I love what you do behind your lens and your processing techniques.

This is great! A real genuine kid photograph, with beautiful light, and the usual excellent work, like engaging focus and composition, plus that lovely b/w. Awesome.

I love that story, Erin!! That has happened to me so many times! I always regret not taking the time -- or rounding up the courage to stop too. Daniel is so sweet! I love it that he has so much understanding about how important your photography is to you!

Maybe tomorrow you will see him again :) I hope so.
