Daniel noticed this mountain of a sand pile today in the corner of an art gallery's parking lot, and he just had to stop and construct something. He gathered whatever natural objects that he could find in the surrounding area, and created a little village of sorts.
It got a bit more elaborate than this as he added bridges, roads and miniature trees. He worked on it for almost an hour, but he really could have stayed all day. This is Daniel in his element.

Better hide this "villiage" from Art!! LOL Aren't kids funny like that? They are constantly making things with their hands... you captured this moment perfectly.

I like the PP, it suits well with the color of the sand and his shirt. Great "kids in action" shot.

Erin, what a great story! And what an interesting amazing child Daniel is. I see so many kids today that don't seem to be interested in anything but computer games. To see one that manifests such imagination and creativity at any opportunity is such a breath of fresh air!

Dave is right. You never know where this early passion might lead him. One day when he's an engineer building cities, these stories might be so precious to remember!

I love this photo!

Great portrait that shows what he's like. I think the slightly desaturated look is very appealing, and makes us contemplate the scene. I think I'd find it very calming to watch him do this.

Erin, someday when Daniel is out constructing bridges the memory of this photo will come to mind. Wonderful capture of imagination.
