It does make for a very interesting and appealling entry in the shapes challenge. The lines and curves are very appealling. Your only downfall are the strings are slightly soft. This is definately a very nice relaxing photo and well done.

Thanks, you all! It is a thrill to break into the 80th percentile for the first time!

Beautiful shot. Love the main shape in the mandolin. There are actually many shapes but I think that one is the main focus. Nice an sharp and the light is just right. The blue cloth background helps. 7

Good lighting and focus.. the back drop you used is a bit distracting though

Sometimes less is more. The tight crop on part of the mando brings out the texture of wood and metal, the shape of the f-slot and a hint of the shape of the body. I like this better than the shots of entire instruments that were submitted.

Great focus on the shape rather then the whole instrument.

This picture caught my eye immediately for its strong shapes and great colors. I would have like a more evenly lit, flat, background of the same color, or more blur, to attract less attention. And the right hand side is not totally sharp. But small imperfections.

Nice! I like the way the strings are at the right hand side and parallel to the edge of the frame. The position of the left curve is also strong. Personally I think a lower DOF, throwing the blue cloth further out of focus, would look better. Nice image!
