this shot almost works... it is conceptually and compositionally well thought-out... but there is something about the drab colours that does not communicate as much as it could. i would play around with the colours, layers, etc. you're on to something!

Well no offense but to well in challenges you got to ask yourself is this what people in general will find an interesting subject? I personally don´t think so but that´s just me :)

Perspective adds interest and color is a bit blah. The focus looks a touch off. Composition isn't bad. Perhaps crop some of the right of the photo off to make this a bit more appealing. Keep shooting! (And pull yer weeds, lol!)
