Sharpness is an issue. Perhaps the same idea on an older or more weathered hand would work better.

Technical: Fits the challenge, but would fit better with more hand. Exposure and lighting are pretty good considering how little of the subject we see. Composition- too tight. Focus good.

Personal: Good idea. More shots would have yielded a better one.

IMHO there is not enough 'empty hand' to make your picture represent what I believe you are trying to represent...
