Unfortunately I do not have the time to re-shoot and solve the imperfections of this shot. But I am submitting it because I really like the idea of making the light look as a liquid.

I hope viewers will realize this is an "against the light" shot.

Lighting:
In order to produce as many star-shaped sparkles as possible I used a multi-strobe and a flash, both hiden behind the black desk where the vertical glass is standing. Light flows towards camera position. Multi-strobe at 100 Hz flashed 25 times during 1/4 sec exposure and generated countless star-shaped sparkles with a Cokin Star 16 filter.

That many sparkles are suposed to make water look as a flowing liquid light. At least that was the idea :-)

After challenge:

Unfortunately quite a few people thought this photo did not meet editing rules. When SC posted the "validation" sign was a bit too late to gain-back those lost points.

Some did not realize light was coming from behind the subject and made funny comments. It`s OK though.

Thanks to all commenters!

Why would anyone challenge the position of the lights with the hand as backlit as it is? The light nicely outlines the curves of the fingertips. This is a great shot, no matter what other effect you were going for... the effect you have achieved really works for me. Great job.

This is really awesome! I can tell that it actually is agianst the light, by looking at the hand...although I guess it may have been hard for some people to realize. That's too bad. :(

This is a really beautiful photo! It may not necessarily remind me of "flowing" water, but the mood and atmosphere does remind me of "water." Clear, sparkling, and crisp! Anyways, I REALLY love this! That star filter is really awesome!

Those who doubt should thank you for the lesson they learned !!! I think anyone who bases their vote on wether or not they think a shot meets the editing rules should be ashamed.. :-) One great lesson I have learned on here is to vote and "hope" it falls within the rules.. It never ceases to amaze me how creative & talented people are with lighting & the use of their camera.. You've proven that here. Great job and I would love to see your "edited" version of this so you can have a chance to fix any flaws you see.. Great job !!!

Great shot. For basic editing hopefully you used lens filter for starbursts.
