This one doesnt really live up to the final version which i couldnt submit due to editing rules. In the final i cloned out the nose ring, and did a bit of dodge and burn to bring out some more light on the darker side of her face, and intensify some of the shadows.

the focal point of that Large male hand on her breast brings this back to the abuse issue for me....a really powerful topic, which resonates in this image. The B&W drives it home, as does the title... so few victims ever give words to their plight, and if they do, are seldom heard...a Disease of Betrayal

I don't give a damn about the nose ring--I didn't even notice it. The important issues here are about the emotion and meaning behind the image. Is this about child abuse (as one of your commenters suggested)? Or is it a loving father clinging to a disturbed daughter in the throes of adolescent angst? Or did you intend this ambiguity to suggest the fine line between love and abuse?

In any case, this is a powerful image!

I dont know why it ended up at such low score,it was one of my fav in the challenge.
I guess B/W dont fare well here....
I simply love the expressions on the face....

I'm not sure about the male hand..is this is reference to abuse? That's what I take away from this shot, w/her expression looking so sad & resigned, & the hand so looming & dominant, plus the black frame. tragic

Powerful. I think I'd prefer just a tad more of the man (but maybe not).

Nice technically but no real wow factor.

An 8 for the technicals and 3 for the emotion, this disturbs me!

Quite artful and we can come to our own conclusions. I like the lighting. Has a definite sadness.
