Greetings from the Critique Club!

I concur with all of the positive statements below!

In this image, I see a nice, bright fire. It is well balanced, and the flames make a nice abstract that is engaging and colorful. I think the sentiments behind the photo are nice, too. Fire does indeed evoke a kind of warmth and nostalgia that few other things can muster. The composition is nice, but, as I mentioned below, it would be nice to see the tip of that large flame in the upper center.

The point of view for this shot is very straightforward. You are nearly even with the fire, and a few feet from it. You might want to experiment more with point of view. What if you were closer? Or below and looking up at the flames? Point of view may help add some drama here.

Your exposure was 1/200; you may also want to experiment with a faster shutter speed. The photo would be darker, but it might evoke mood even more than it does now.

The title suggests family, and the fire seems to be a symbol of that, so I find that this allusion works for me. Experimenting again, you may want to do even more to suggest family: perhaps a bunch of different sized toes in front of the fire, or shoes, or fingers, or . . .?

This is a solid photo with lots of possibilities. Good luck, and keep making good shots like this one!

Ah yes. What better to respresent the warmth of home than a fire? Nice work. It would be nice to see the top of the flames, but I like this image and the idea behind it.

Its a shame the family are not in the photo

Nicely done, it really does show warmth, which not all fire photos strangely manage.

Nice flame shot, but needs to be a bit sharper.
