 Cheap bud vases from Ikea set atop black foam board with a series of "peep holes" cut into it so four small LED lights could be directed straight up through the center/bottom of each vase. Vases are filled with water to give the effect of glowing light at both bottom -- entry point of light -- and midpoint -- reflection of light. Setup done in completely dark room.

Dry ice was placed in each vase, creating a softening effect and foggy shadow. Another light source was bounced from the ceiling immediately overhead for approximately half the shutter opening (15 of 30 seconds).

RAW conversion in ACR with only a minor adjustment to brightness (up) and contrast (down)

PP limited was limited: Selective Color adjustment layer to increase blacks; NR with Noiseware Pro; Smart Sharpen; Resize for challenge; Final sharpen; Convert to 8-bit sRGB and save as jpeg
