This is in my room in my parents house in Butte, Montana (I'm there for Spring break). That's me, which made this kind of challenging. My tripod was in my car, which was getting its oil changed. So I used the side of the huch next to the window and some shirts as my tripod.

I actually don't like this image sharpened...it takes away from the kind of dreamy quality of it.

Anyway, it's a bit underexposed...it seems like a trend with me! Anyway, I also couldn't make a decision on which shot to post...I like different ones for different things, and I wish I could just bring the different qualities into this one.

I wish:
1) it was exposed a bit more
2) there was more black on the left
3) a little less black on the right
and
4) that the shades were opened a bit more to show a sliver of white.

Anyway, here it is in black and white:

And here are the other shots I took:

a little dark, but it does have something to it that I think i am just missing because its dark on my screen.

I like this one the best because it tells a story. It does have that dreamy quality and not one element overshadows the other. The lighting creates that perfect mood for this shot.

I think this is one of the best shots submitted so far in this challenge. The richness of the colors, the dark hues, the subtle lighting all create a mood and tell a story. I 'm dying to know what she's looking at out the window. Well done.

I quite like these and agree with the one you chose. I think in post if you can just bring out the light in the eyes a touch and just a bit on the skin this will have a very ethereal feel to it. Very nice composition and well shot for a self portrait!

Colors and composition are very good. It does have a dreamy quality to it, which is fitting for this photo. Your expression and body language really convey a story.

This is great. I prefer the color to the b&w and this shot here to your alternates. This is a great base pic that will handle all of the things you wished it had in PP. You should be able to make it just like you envisioned it - even the shades open a bit more part could be fairly easy. Very creative work here.

What a well thought out shot. It looks like the subject heard something outside while waiting on someone and went over to check it out. Very good job!

This is lovely. Really emotive - there's a sense of fear that someone important may not show up - and the viewer feels empathy for the subject. I prefer the photo you chose over your outtakes. I like the heavy blue of the curtains - think it adds to the emotions being played out here.

Neat entry - thanks for sharing it (and taking the time to set it up without your tripod). I think the color version with the blues and gold of your hair is much better than the B/W version. In addition, the image where you are illuminated but we can't see out the window seems to make better.
