Taken at my Chiropractor's office with my new Cannon Rebel XTi. I am still learning how to use this camera and it shows in this image. I am not happy with the shadows produced by the on camera flash, but I can't afford to upgrade the flash at this time. So some advice on how to mitigate the harsh effects of the light from the flash would be really appreciated by anyone here at DPC.
Since this is basic editing, I feel like I am on a level playing field on this challenge. Editing included a slight crop of the image, some adjusment of contrast and levels and sharpening. Resized image for DPC and uploaded.

Good candid shot of some alternative medicine practice. For better results I would suggest not using the on camera flash or bouncing the flash off the ceiling or a wall.
The most interesting portion of this image, is the shadow casted by the light reflecting in the mirror on the bamboo plant. Although my back aches wanting this treatment, I find the image flat. I think maybe a face shot with some emotion would make a much dramatic appeal as well as a stronger angle and not from the perspective of someone standing there (feels snapshotish) Bring the camera close and personal hard angle and adjust the levels/curves a bit for a more poppier image.
shows alternative medicine well, but as a photo is merely a "snapshot". The lighting is mainly what does you in as well as the fact that we can't engage their faces at all. 4
dont use flash unless it gets you a cool effect or you gave really profetional flash equipment. and you should try taking the picture from a more artistic angle.
This just looks like a quick snapshot to me...not something thought out. Sorry. Maybe if the shadows wern't so distracting or if you shot from the angle that you could see her face.
